~Whatcha Working on Wednesday~

I've always had trouble with what to put on the wall behind my couch, I knew what I wanted but just couldn't afford $119.00 for it. I fell in love with this shelf and the length, 48", I thought was just perfect for my couch which is long. Right now I have pictures of the family framed in black with white mats and I've had them up there going on now 3 years, it's time for a change ladies.lol
Stush made me this yesterday...the only thing he had to buy was the beadboard! It's just like the picture and what I love most about it is instead of buying the pegs he used a dowl rod that he already had, makes it look even more prim:) I can't wait to decorate it for Christmas:)
So you can see what I'll be working on...I'm painting it satin black and really distressing it, then he will hang it for me! I think it will really add the primness that I'm looking for to the room. I think "Frosty", that I won from Angie, would look great sitting on the shelf:)
Be sure to stop over at Leslie's for more "Whatch Working on Wednesday." Now to get busy on working on Christmas presents:)
I'm thankful for...a husband who really loves me and puts up with my prim ideas:)

~Sydney's Birthday~

Look at that smile...such a happy little girl and so loveable! Loves school, books and clothes, sounds like her grammy except for the liking school thing:) Samantha... just wanting a chance to blow out the candles.LOL Saturday she had a party with her friends at the movies. The pink bag holds the boots that I bought her.
Opening more gifts:0

One of the books that I bought her, Junie B. books seems to be all the rage for her age, I got her three books in all.

All Samantha wanted to do is open a gift!

I finally got my turkeys out, the one on the left was my mom's I remember her buying it at Hallmark, it's a napkin holder which I use it for on Thanksgiving:) The one on the right I bought at Hallmark also, I should go and buy another one there and just keep adding every year:)

Right now they are on my mantel and I really can't wait to eat turkey I don't think I've had any since last year:)
Have a great evening everyone!

~The Steeler Game~

Well, I survived the trip on the bus to the Steeler game yesterday, we left at noon and thank goodness the bus was warm:) Of course I took pictures! Sitting beside my sweetie!

Us tailgating!

Our bus driver in the blue jacket...he was so nice, when I was getting on the bus I told him that it was only my 2nd time on the bus and he said "God bless you" LOL the bus can get rowdy at times.

Stush, always helping...I think he has one of those plastic bread ties or clip in his mouth, I have to show him this.lol

Getting the grill ready!

Yes, we even take the opposite fan along with us, he sure takes alot of ribbing:)

Of course they are selling things everywhere on the way to the game which we walked about 5 blocks to get to the stadium:) We bought a pink toboggan with the Steeler emblem on it to put in Sydney's stocking for Christmas:) She loves sports and always watches with her dad.

Even the little ones have Steeler fever around here, I know I wouldn't take little ones on the bus but to each his own, for me it just gets to crazy!

It amazes me that when I ask strangers if I can take their pictures and tell them they will be on my blog they pose and laugh...these people I guess were from another bus.

This cutie was on our bus, a nice kid, I also told him he will be on my blog he said "great"!

Here's a close up of a trailer that was next to us painted in Steeler colors and with Steeler curtains, love it!

We finally made it to the game as you can see we are high up but they were good seats!

You can also see the Heinz ketchup bottles and when they score the bottles tilt and the ketchup runs out:)

The Pittsburgh skyline and the river.

I go once a year to these games, last year I didn't go at all. I go once to have a good time but would rather be at the flea market or the Goodwill. Stush even would prefer to stay home and watch it on TV and while he watches I'm on the computer reading all my friends blogs:)

I can't take the cold but this is what I wore and stayed toasty warm:

Cuddles top & bottoms

2 pair of socks

fuzzy lined suede boots

jeans

black turtleneck

Stush's Steeler Sweatshirt

Stush's Steeler outwear pullover (I put this on before we left to go

to the stadium.)

At the game I wrapped up in a fuzzy Steeler throw with

Steeler mittens.LOL

Well, by the time the game was over I was more than ready to head home and the bus finally pulled out, now keep in mind there are more men then women on the bus!!! So about, I'd say 20 miles from home, our bus breaks down on I-79... Lord I was so afraid a trailer truck would hit us not knowing we were broke down, this is before the state cop came. They had to call a towtruck to come and pull us off the highway, towed us about 5 feet and cost the bus company $250.00 for him to do that. We waited about 2 hours for another bus to come and transfer us to it and get us to California, PA. After all that I was so happy to walk in my house.:) To top it all off the Steeler's lost in about the last 5 minutes of the game, oh well win some, lose some:)

Today is Sydney's birthday so we are going to her birthday party for adults, Saturday Michele had taken her and her friends to the movie then for cake at home:)

Take care everyone and have a warm evening at home:)

~Catching Up~

Hi everyone!
This is Alex, my son Nick's daughter, as I've mentioned before they live about 30 minutes from us and I don't get to see her as often as Syd & Sam, so today I watched her while her mom and dad went to the Pitt game:) Stush was making both of us laugh while taking the picture, hate that because I don't like my picture taken anyway:) oh, and Linda...the Red Sox shirt I have on bought at the sports store across the street from Fenway Park for $5.00 on the clearance rack.lol Anyway, she's a little sweetheart and I'm so glad I got to spend some time with her:) Yesterday in the mail came "Frosty" that I won on Angie's giveaway from Simple Thyme Primitives. He is so neat and so well made, stuffed to perfection too! Plus two cross stitched ornies that will go so well on my prim tree! Angie also sent along a very prim card too and I must say she has beautiful handwriting:) Thanks Angie, I really needed to smile yesterday, I just love him!
As you can see I'm trying to catch up on things that I promised to post...my good friend Sandy from For the Love of Prims is having a 100th post giveaway, isn't everything she is giving away so neat? So stop by for a visit and find out how to enter!

Sandy also gave me this Friendship award which I think is so cute...I like the words on each cup... Trust, Kindness, Honesty and Caring that to me is a friend!!! Sandy, I'll proudly post this on my blog, thank you friend I love it:) Now to answer the questions:)

1. Do you have the same friends since childhood?
In one of my posts I showed a picture of a friend that I've had since 7th grade and we always talk and have a good time when we see each other. The friends from a really younger age I'd say no, just don't see them anymore.
2. What do you value most about your friends?
Their honesty and trust! I think you need those two qualities to have a friendship right off the bat!!!
3. Are your friends sounding boards?
Yes and no...somethings I prefer to talk only to Stush about but other things I will throw out there and I trust them to tell me their honest opinion.
4.What is your favorite activity to share with friends?
We like to go out to dinner alot, usually my friend's husbands are Stush's friends too so that makes it fun too!
Now I have to pick some bloggers that I want to give this award to but I really count you all as my friends, so if you want this award from me please take it I really want you to:)
Tomorrow I'll be at the Steeler game, Stush has warm clothes for me and I know I'll be at least a little warm, I'm also taking a fuzzy Steeler blanket to keep me even warmer:0 We go on a bus with all of our friends so it will be alot of fun.
Have a great Sunday:)

~Whatcha Working on Wednesday on Friday~

Well, it has been a few days since I've posted and I don't really know how to explain how I feel except to say that Linda from Behind My Red Door said it all, thank you Linda you said everything that I would have said! I have been quite upset over the remarks said just because people voted for Obama, it made me physically ill to tell the truth.. enough to not want to blog anymore, but I had to remember that there are good bloggers out there and frankly I would be missing their friendship so much if I didn't blog and I do enjoy blogging soooo that said I'd like to show you what I have been doing:)
This first picture is of a wooden flag that I have had for a long time, I did move it over to the left a little more after I took the picture,:) I had it outside this spring and summer but brought it in the day after the election and was taking it into my patriotic bedroom when I stopped and thought that I'd put it up on the top of my hoosier to always remind me of that special day!
I have been working on this dresser for a while, it's from the 30's or 40's not really sure, but as you can see it was really scuffed up especially after I sanded it. I did paint it black but for some reason it turned out terrible. So after looking at it for a few days I decided to use what paint I had and painted it Buff and distessed it and stained it. Stush also fixed the wheels on the bottom and the drawers so that they would slide in and out better:)

This is how it turned out, what do you think? I still need to hang the mirror and finish the penny rug, just needed to blanket stitch the back to it.
What I like about this dresser is that there isn't any hardware and has deep drawers that hold my sweaters and turtlenecks nicely.

I may decorate it differently but for now this is what it is, I do know that I'll keep the penny rug there though. Stush bought me a gallon of black, satin paint today so I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the navy boxes black:)

Well, I have to run to Michele's ...thanks for stopping by:)
Added...What I'm thankful for today...I'm thankful for my blogging friends!

~Voting This Morning~

What a wonderful day this is just to be able to have the privilege to vote freely!
This is what this morning looked like out my kitchen window...we vote right across the gravel road:) I walk to vote and I've seen some others walking and some even on bicycles that's how nice it is outside today! The Blainsburg Bible Church is right across from our home this is where we vote, we are the only two up here so really I only have neighbors on Wednesdays evenings, Sundays and sometimes on Saturdays:)
Yes, I voted for Barack Obama, this country needs change and I feel he's the one to do it!!!
Have a wonderful day and make sure to vote!

~November Doings~

Hi everyone!
Just been doing some little changes today...the weather is beautiful for November 1st, I for one can't believe it's November already:0 As you can see from my pictures the leaves are really falling off fast now. I've been outside today taking Halloween things down and in and leaving the fall things out. Here is my decorative flag, I do have a turkey one that I'll put up maybe tomorrow but I wanted to show you this one first. I kept forgetting to take a picture of it.
I took out the flowers that were in my flower boxes sort of sad to see them go but they lasted a long time, filled them in with fake leaves and pinecones from the backyard, there must be a million back there laying on the ground:)
I've always wanted to do this, have flower boxes to decorate for the seasons now I can...also can't wait to do them for Christmas too!

I brought some pinecones inside and put them in a crock!

Look at all the leaves...we could never rake them all so Stush just uses the riding lawn mower and cuts them all up. I get tired just looking at all of them!!!

Well, I better get back to work on my stitching, I think we are all busy with something aren't we?It's that time of year again everyone:)
Today, I am thankful for my children and grandaughters living close, Michael the only one who lives away but thankfully he is only four hours away and can be home for the holidays. Also for the beautiful fall weather we have been having:)
