~Glad That’s Over~

Good evening Blog friends, is it cold where you are? It sure is here in Western Pa. The weatherman said there is another inch or so coming tomorrow but not 5* like this morning…we will hit a high of 18* Yippie!!! Thank goodness for the woodstove, it’s nice and cozy in here and for that I’m thankful:) I had to drive in this crummy weather this morning to get the girls on the bus and preschool well, after crawling down a steep hill at 15 miles an hour I get to my daughters home and school was cancelled not a two hour delay like it was when I left the house. I was glad because I really don’t like having them in the car with me when it’s bad out.

When I got home today I decided today was the day to take the decorations down Stush helped by taking down the greenery from atop the kitchen cabinets, which I loved BTW, I got everything down, packed away and put in the basement:) Now tomorrow I’ll take down the tree and start cleaning, I did leave out three snowmen, one wasn’t prim enough so I took some brown shoe polish and darkend is chennille fabric. You can’t really tell from this picture but he turned out neat. Here is my mantel with some tea lights lit:)

I’d also like to show you my bargin of 2009…Christmas eve I had to run in K-Mart for Chris and while there I came across these framed pictures on sale for 14.99 marked down half of that, I liked it but didn’t have time to see if I really liked it if you know what I mean,LOL So I figured I could always return it after Christmas and for 8 dollars I took it to the register to pay. When she rang it up it showed a hopping .85 the man behind me said “You can’t beat that” and he was right:) I plan on hanging it tomorrow, it’s a basket on an old piece of furniture with wooden drawers on top .

Michael and Corrie gave me this book that they found in a shop in Annapolis for Christmas called “The American Frugal Housewife” which was first published in Boston 1833. It’s interesting to read… I found out that some things never change then yet again it’s no wonder they didn’t live long all the work they had to do from scratch, no wonder they went to bed early.LOL I know I would have had to have been a saloon girl:)

106_2246

Isn’t this cute? I was wrapping this for Michael to give to Corrie, he said that when they were in a country store he put this underneath his arm for her and paid for it without her knowing:) He’s made of wool done on a creme fabric but it’s not osenberg I do know that.

106_2239

Well, ladies I’m tired…I did a routine of lifting weights today I know I won’t be able to get out of bed in the morning:) I have to do something, it’s not going to come off by itself…that’s what I keep telling myself anyway!

Have a cozy evening where ever you are♥

  8. Oh Rondell sweetie...
You have been busy. What a deal on the picture oh my gosh, 85 cents. I can hardly believe it. It is so darn precious.

I love your mantel with the tea lights. Looks so romantic. Just love it. The snowmen look so cute still standing up there. I think I am leaving mine out this year too. I so enjoy them. I may leave them out year round on top of my entertainment center. I just don't get to enjoy them long enough before it is time to put them away again.

I am so glad it is you up there in that cold and not me. I hate the cold, I just love to look at the snow. It was in the 70's here today in Phoenix. Gotta love it. I love the winter, because we really don't have a Spring, and we jump right into the Summer.

Stay warm and inside where it is safe. Stay out of the ice. Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

  10. I am convinced that my excess weight got ON by itself -- surely it could have nothing to do with all the snacking and lifting of forks and spoons...lol...and shouldn't the weight of lifting the pieces of cake counteracted the weight of the cake itself???

You really got a bargain with that picture.

  11. Love that picture! And that book sounds so neat! I'd love to read it myself! I have toyed with the idea that I would have loved living way back when, but then I think about how nice it is to have central air & heat, dishwashers, computers, etc. LOL!
    Stay warm!

  12. Hi Rondell! Great deal on the picture! I do like your snowmen. I know what you mean about driving with the grand in the car on slick roads. I really, really, I mean really dislike winter! Sigh. However, I have been better this year about getting out and driving. We had a bunch of snow, but not much of anything lately, but some fog and lots of cold.
Good for you on the weights! I need to get myself on the treadmill, now that's its too cold to walk outside....do you know how much fudge I have eaten in the last two weeks?
    .....a saloon girl?
    Enjoy your day.

  13. What a great bargain! That picture is fun!
So sorry about your cold temps. You can always come to AZ if you like. Our lows are about 55*. It will never cease to amaze me how bundled up some of these native Arizonans get when it that "cold". I am still running around in capris and flip flops! :)
And talk about school cancellations--school here was cancelled one day the first winter we were here. It snowed about 1 1/2 inches. I couldn't believe it.
    Take care and keep warm!

  15. What a great deal on the picture...my MIL has the same one hanging in her dining room.

It's cold and snowing here also. I remember those days of getting the kids ready for school on a delay...to only find out while they were outside waiting on the bus, that school just got canceled for the day.

I'm lifting weights also and have gone back to my leg exercises as the doctor says that stengthen the muscles will help me have less pain. After I get over the pain of not doing my exercises for a while. LOL...

    Take care and stay warm.

  23. You have definitely been busy. I will probably start taking down the Christmas stuff tomorrow since it is the end of the 12 days of Christmas. I always get a little sad to see it go but now that I have my little prim tree it shouldn't be so bad.

They are actually forecasting snow here tomorrow. I will believe it when I see it! lol

    Stay warm,
    Debbie
