~Thanks for Clicking & Some Country Store & GW Prims~

Hi blogger friends…the snow is trying to melt, getting up the road to our house is really trying to say the least. It’s about 8” of slush and ice and you just gun it to get to our drive way or at least I do.LOL We are hoping that it melts little by little so that the river doesn’t flood…our last one was in “93” and they are saying if it does flood it will be worse than the last so I hope it hangs on even until Easter just so the people who get flooded won’t lose so much!

I’d also like to thank the ladies who have been clicking on the free, pink mamogram symbol on my sidebar. In January they gave me a count of how many clicks it had all year…nearly 3,000 so thanks so much…I also added the one for our furry friends so try to click on that too…it makes you feel good that you helped in some way:)

I’ve been to GW at least three times a week , what I do is drop Samantha off at preschool and go right to the GW and just take my time looking sooooooo I’ve started to pick up the Yorktown pattern in the Pfaltzgraff pattern, I’m always on the look out for Phaltzgraff dishes hoping and hoping when I walk in the door there will be some Folkart pattern dishes just waiting there for me, that hasn’t happened yet but a girl can dream:)

Here are two pieces I have found there, a caraff and I think a utensil holder, not sure about that though but I got both for less than 7.00. They seem to go with the prim look too!

While I was buying those I completely forgot about already having 3 pieces at home that were put away, the two on the right were my mom’s I remember buying these at a store called “Oranges” it was for her birthday back in the 70’s, wish I could remember how much they were back then! The butter crock was Stush’s mother’s so I don’t know to much about who bought it or when. Anyway it’s been fun hunting for it and that’s what it is all about right?:)

I also went to GW to find some bottles to put some labels on and found these two for .79 and .49 a piece.

Also stopped at the Country Store and bought this black, star pillow for my bed goes so well with the black in the quilt!

I also found this candle holder, it’s so neat with the candle snuffer hanging from the end…wasn’t that pricey either.

I’m looking for a four poster headboard and footboard to of course paint black.LOL I’m on Craigslist everyday…I found one lady selling 67 pieces of folkart dishes for $350.00…oh, how I wish I could have had that!!!

This is the top of the shelf cabinet I bought before Christmas and I’m having a hard time finding the right priim to put on top, I saw this candle mat and I think it goes well but finding what to put on it has me stumped, I tried a candle and it just doesn’t look right because I think I need a taller item to put there because above it I have the homespun rack and the spoonrack and to look at it you just need a tall item. I’ll find it one day.LOL

I also bought this much bigger twig wreath to go in my keeping room window instead of the berry wreath that seemed to small…love it!

Well, I work today and I’m going to stop here to go lift some weights then get ready for work:)

~Whatcha Working on Wednesday~

My, it’s been a week since I last posted and I don’t really know why except I got called out to work yesterday right when I was going to start on Char’s Valentine penny rug…so that’s been put on hold because today I wanted to “play house” a little bit;)

I found my labels and so thankful I did because I wanted to put new ones on my jars and I had an idea for another item, I’ll show you that in a little bit. When I used the labels I didn’t use any kind of finish and with Stush cooking alot of water marks got on them, I found some matte spray at Walmart… think I’ll have to wait till the garage door is opened to spray though!

Here’s a pic of them, I don’t use the flour, sugar etc, I like the prim graphics on different ones so I put whatever I like on them!

Here in the corner of my kitchen counter I finally hung the pineapple plaque that I got at GW for .99 I just rubbed the sides with some brown shoe polish for now. I put this light here instead of the ball jar one, you can hardly see it but the bulb is a star one. I also added my pineapple candle hug that I bought from Karenmycolonialhome.blogspot.com/.

I also tweaked my stove board!

Added a blue quilted heart to some berries on top of my clock, next to it is an old lanteren that I got at auction a long time ago. It has small spikes inside to put a candle down on, the sides are made of wire.

Took the ladder from the diningroom and put it in the keepingroom, I like it alot better;) and put my folkart dishes in the corner cabinet.

Redid the top of the table too!

Took fabric off of some crocks and added cheesecloth instead, I saw it on a blog and it looked so neat, I couldn’t do it to the glass one because you would be able to see the print on top. This is on my hoosier BTW.

Finally here is what I did with the other label, I had this wood box and needed something to put my newer prim magazines in so I put it on the lower shelf of my coffee table.

~I Need Your Help Lady's~

As I've said before I'm doing alot of uncluttering and tweaking but I'm stumped at what I should do with this wall, it's a high ceiling above the shelf and slopes down toward the fireplace. What should I add, it looks a little bare to me but I don't want a cluttered look. I like the picture that I have above the lamp, looks great when the lamp is lit at night. This is the right side of my living room... and this is the left

Is this sampler board to tall for the shelf? Should I take out the pewter goblet and replace it with a smaller pewter mug that was Michael's when he was a baby? I do know I want to keep the black doll on there that Beth made me for our textile swap and also the pewter pitcher that I found for $5.00, there is a little store where I get my hair done and went in there and found it:) Oh, and also the plate I'd like to keep.

To the right of the shelf it's just bare, there isn't any room for another table because there is doorways on both sides of the sofa. Any ideas would be appreciated girls:)

I've been tweaking my stepback cupboard trying to get it just so...on the top shelf is a pickle jar with a label that says "drygoods" I keep matchbooks in there from the all restaurant's that Stush and I have been too since we started to date. In the grain scoop on the top shelf I have the blue star ornies:)

Here is a Yankee Candle that I got at GW for $1.49 I think it was used only once and it's called Vanilla Cookie, smells so good too, I already had the star punched tin lid:)

When I showed the great prims that I got from Beth in our textile swap I forgot to show the picture of the sweetest "Sweet Annie" ticking pillow that she made, it smells so good too. I needed something to put in spice rack that Janene sent me and it sure looks as if it were made for it doesn't it?

Like I said this has been one busy summer for me and my family...here are a few pictures of Kennywood, Kennywood is made of memories that's their theme and it's so true it has been around forever... I'm sure my great grandmother had been there of course back then it was and looked alot different then it does now.

We have movies of my dad and I riding this ride when I was about Samantha's age here, now here I am doing the same thing with my granddaughter's:)

This is part of the park that's called New Kennywood, beautiful fountain but the flowers weren't what they used to be in years past because of all the rain Pa has got this summer plus cooler temps.

Here's Samantha riding the merry go round, she just loves this ride, she was tapping her finger to the music as everyone was getting on.:) She said that she loved the ride and the music:)

Here is the merry go round, it's said to be the oldest one in the country:) It's beautiful when it is lit at night.

I remember riding this ride too it's called the Whip and there is a bigger one outside of kiddyland but Samantha and Alex were happy just to stay in kiddyland and ride the rides that don't scare them. Now Sydney was out and about with her Uncle Chris riding all the thrilling rides, they grow up to quick!

I have more pictures of Kennywood that I'll post later, we had a great time and sure were tired when we got home at about 11:30 PM that night. It's a great park that we go to every year, ever since I was a baby and on thur my teenage years up until now a grammie:)

♥ My Morning Crafting ♥

Hi everyone!
I hope you are all having a great Friday, I'm glad it's the weekend aren't you? I had to be up early this morning...Michele brings Sydney so that I can take her to school on Friday's so I figured I'd paint my pantry boxes before they arrived:) First off thanks to all of you who left a comment with your suggestions loved them♥
Now remember the pantry boxes were barn red, hunter green and navy and my sister gave these to me in the early 90,s for Christmas. Here lately I've been wanting to update them so I thought I'd give it a try:) It took a couple coats to cover them, after they dried I used watered down Burnt Umber to stain them. I found out you have to wipe almost immediately because it drys faster then I thought it would! I love how the blue one turned out only because I've been wanting to incorporate the color blue in my decorating again. It just goes so well with what I have, oh I'll still use the black but my "new" color will be, Williamsburg Blue, that's the shade it is. the middle one is painted with Buttermilk and the bottom one is Ivory...just used paint that I already had:) I have them on my bar in the kitchen. Oh, and I also used a neutral shoe polish wax on them too, it only smells like shoe polish for a few minutes. lol
I also did some other little things...Sydney had suggested I put this label on my little, galvainized bucket and put apples in it but the apples that I have are to big so I'll be on the look out for smaller ones to prim up and put in there:)
The homespun I put around my wisk broom is a sort of flannel and I coffee dyed it with cinnamon and vanilla but it didn't take to well, does Walmart still sell the Walnut Ink? Our craft area in our Walmart isn't very much anymore since they did away with selling fabric so maybe they don't even have it anymore.

Here also is the candle holder that I bought for $1.99 at GW, I wish the pic had turned out better I used the 28 inches or less setting and somehow I never get it right.

Here is a closer shot so that you can see I did distress it and also used the burnt umber all over it. I also grubbed up some plain candles and did what Terry from Big City Prims had posted about using a plain tea light. I only had cinnamon and ginger to work with an thur in some coffee grounds and for my first time of doing anything like it I was happy with the out come...better then plain beige.

This is a candle I grunged also...this is on a bench in my bedroom, everytime I went in there I'd look at that plain candle and think I should grunge it up and I finally did.LOL

Well, that's about all I've been up to this Friday...I have to babysit tonight which I don't usually do because that's Stush and my date night, but Michele won Penguin tickets at work and will sit in the box with her boss so I'll watch them so she and her husband can go and enjoy theirselves:)

♥ The Letter A ♥

Hi everyone!
Well, here it is Friday already and almost the month of February, can you believe it? January flew by for me and I think it did because of my "attitude":) I decided to stop and see the beauty of the month of January instead of being down in the dumps about it, it used to be the longest month for me I also think it looks better with all the snow we got and it not going away! Don't get me wrong I'm very glad it's going to be over and we can head into the month that represents "love". Speaking of love, I asked Joy of Doodlebugs to assign me a letter and she gave me the letter "A", my first thought was A???? what can I love that starts with the letter A. Believe me I really had to put on my thinking cap for that one, so I grabbed a piece of paper and pen and thought....... so here are my ten things that start with the letter a that I love:)
1. The first word that came to mind was...angels, I believe they are always around us and that our Father sends them in situations to help or save us. The next was Alex...she has the prettiest hands I've ever seen, long, slender and you can tell that she will be able to have long fingernails one day, I always tell her she has angel's hands:)

2. Abundance...I love that I have an abundance of love from my family

3. Attitude...I really have a different attitude since of got older. I don't care what others say or do about me, I like me and that is all that matters.

4. Antiques...Oh, how I love them and I've had a love for them since the late 70's so much I wish I had more of them but I'm very happy with what I have:)

5. Airplanes...I love to travel in them, I know some of you are saying "Is she nuts"? But I do, I love take off and landing.lol Of course I always love to sit in the first seat of a roller coaster too:) Must be the adventurer in me!

6. Awesome...I think my kids and granddaughters are awesome, the love I have for them is "awesome".

7. Acceptance...I've learned how to accept the situations in my life and knowing how when I do that I can move on to something better:)

8. Achievement...I love to set small goals for myself to get to the bigger goal that I want to achieve.

9. Agile...I love to exercise, I think I've mentioned this before, but I do it for my health and yes, to look good in clothes I'll admit. I also want to have good balance and be agile for when I get older, I don't want to suffer with a broken hip someday and I think we should think of these things when we decide to exercise.

10. Amen!!!

I got Sydney off to school today and here she is on the computer before she had to get dressed. She always asks to read Joy's blog and I know when she gets old enough she will want to do a blog too! I can't wait for that:)

~ Whatcha Working on Wednesday~

I think I need to get a job...I haven't done anything today but play with my camara again and do more labels. Yesterday I got my Valentine labels in the mail from Yankee Lane Primitives alot of neat ones too! So I've been doing that plus I painted a barn red candlestick black. Here's a pic of it:) I also moved this jar from my keepingroom into the diningroom. This picture I took with the candlelight setting maybe it would have turned out better if it would have been night. I found this paper mache container in the bottom of my hoosier and decided to put a label on it...painted the lid black too over brown paint.

I think it turned out neat...still working with learning the settings:)

I like being able to make these myself!

I've been labeling everything it seems...here are two black tins that I got a while ago at a yard sale, they already had labels on them but they were a dark orange. I put the labels on over top of the orange and it didn't even show thur.

This is an old jar that I got years ago I had clothes pins in them so this label that was with the ones I got yesterday went great with it.

Still cold here, I think it was 8* this morning, I was looking at pictures I had taken last spring and sighing.lol So I had to quit...is anyone else getting cabin fever?
