~Whatcha Working on Wednesday~

It's still crazy around here but I did manage to make and coffee dye these two sets of stacking boxes:) This first set I found at the yard sale I did that weekend, actually I got two sets for a dollar, these stand about 8 1/2 inches high so they are small enough to tuck somewhere on a shelf. The fabric I found at JoAnn's which was 30% off...it's a creme background with black stars. I coffee dyed them and left them grunged although it doesn't show up to well in this picture, I put them in my corner cabinet which is sitting in my entryway LOL just to show you:) I made these and posted a while ago about them soI decided to coffee dye them too, they stand about 14 1/2 inches high so they are bigger and can sit on a bench or floor:) They grunged up really nice I think.
For some reason they always make me think of Gone With the Wind... the scene where Scarlet and Rhett go to New Orleans and she's opening all these boxes of clothes in the bedroom and trying hats on:)

Here are the floors done, can I say thank goodness!!! No more ugly 80's blue carpet and grey floor in the kitchen! Everything looks new with this new flooring even the bar stools do:) Now to do the trim and I'm trying to decide on new curtains for the kitchen and keeping room...one lady on ebay sells muslin valances that are grunged so I'm just looking around and taking my time I don't want anything to dark:)

I had a hair appointment today and I drive about 45 minutes to get there and the weather was sunny , drove home and it had stormed here and now it looks like it is going to storm again:0

  1. Hey Rondell,

Your floors look GREAT! Good for you...they're all done! Now you get to decorate...the fun part!

I especially love your blue boxes. I need to look back for the link where you gave instructions on how to do those. I have some square ones to cover with fabric!

Our weather has been similiar...storms come up out of nowhere, then the sun shines realy pretty...and then storms again!

    Have a great day!

  6. I really like the boxes, too. I wish I could find some more like I had on my blog. I need to hit the yard sales a little more often.

I'm so jealous of the new floor. Our carpet is only 10 years old but we bought too light of a color. Plus that was 4 children, 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 rabbits ago!

  7. Rondell,
The boxes look wonderful made over. I so love blue so I enjoy seeing all of your blue makeovers :)

I love the new floor! I don't know if yours is real wood or laminate but I just have to say that since switching from carpet, I don't think I ever want to go back. Everything does seem to look new and nicer with our new floor (it's almost been in a year!). My only complaint is that I have to vacuum or sweep it at least 3 times a week...the carpet hid more but that's okay!

You saw sun today?! Lucky you! I also watched the news yesterday and saw that it was in the high 60's out your way. We were dealing with temps in the low 50's and rain..brrrr!

    Have a great night :)

  22. Oh! I bet it feels so good to get the floors done! They look great!! (I about had a nervous breakdown when we did a kitchen remodel several years ago. I couldn't stand the mess, not to mention washing dishes in the bathtub. I finally told the painters that if they didn't get it finished, I was going to finish it. They hurried and finished.)
Your boxes are fantastic! Love your blog. :):):)
