♥ Marley and Other Animals ♥

Yesterday evening we went to see Marley and Me....I won't go into the story because I know some of you want to see it or are waiting for it to come on TV or DVD. We had plans to take the three granddaughters but the youngest two were sick so Sydney just went and let me tell you there wasn't a dry eye in the house:) Cute story! The evening after Christmas day we went to my brother's home...this is the tree in the sun room and that's my sister Judy and my son Nick in the background there.
Now my brother Mike is an avid hunter and fisherman and the great room has his trophies on the wall, all done so nicely and I give that credit to my SIl Janet:) As I said he loves to hunt and his animals are from Alaska and Wyoming...come this fall he is going to Africa.
Mr. Moose is my favorite, they have him angled so that he curves around to be looking at the TV. He is huge!

This wreath is above the fireplace, Janet had a florist put the pheasants on a grapevine wreath, I think it's beautiful.

This is some sort of fish.

This I think is an Elk...I think!

Michael was there too!

It's been a wonderful Christmas but tiring, between working and Christmas I'm exhausted:)
as I'm sure everyone is. We didn't have a white Christmas which was a little disappointing but good for the people who had to travel.
I went to Walmart today with Michele and the girls and I bought a digital bathroom scale for me, time to work off all those wonderful sweets that I had.

  1. You are SO right! The pheasant wreath is stunning!

    The Texas Woman

  2. That is beautiful ! I think thats a moose or some sort of caribou however, lol !!
Thanks for sharing........ by the way how do you get the snow effect on your blog?

  3. Wow, my husband was drooling over the animals. He said the one you thought was an elk is a caribou. Our soninlaw shot one last year hunting out west. Glad you got to spend time with your family. Love that sunroom.

  4. I am not sure I could live with those animals - we are not hunters so it is very foreign to me. But I can imagine how proud your brother must be.

I hope you get some more down time now that the Holiday rush is over!!

  5. Beautiful room...even with the heads hanging!!! ha ha Like the others said...it is a caribou....elk don't have that type of antlers! Happy New Year!!

  6. My husband is a hunter also. He would love to have a place to hang all of his animals. but we don't have the room in the house we are in. Your brothers look very nice the way they have them displayed.

  7. Hi, Just visiting. Wow, that is a big moose. We saw several this summer while camping. I love to see them. Good luck with the new scales (o:

  8. Rondell, I agree with Linda, Im not sure I could look at the moose and elk everyday, but they are amazing. The moose is a beautiful animal. The wreath is gorgous on the mantle! Thanks for sharing, Dawn

  9. My mom went to see Marley yesterday too. I heard it was awesome. I'm heading back to my scale too! We aren't friends right now, but it's time! lol How 'bout Big Ben yesterday? That was a little scary!

  10. Hi Rondell!
Oh I can't wait to go see Marley and Me. Steve and I listened to the audio book on a trip we took, and I bawled my eyes out!
I hope I can control myself in the theater! :)
What a gorgeous room...I'm not one for animal heads or they stuffed bodies hangin' around...(I feel like they're lookin at me...)
It's something it be proud of tho...if your are a hunter!! ;)

Hope you are finding time to relax and take it easy...

    Happy New Year, girl!

  11. Rondell...it has been soooo long...I'm trying to get caught up on my blogging. Your brother's home looks like a hunting lodge your sil did a wonderful job decorating. Your holiday pictures with your family looks as though you had sooo much fun.

Also loved your Christmas decoratons...I got a new camera for Christmas also.

    Have a wonderful New Year!

  12. Don't feel bad, Rondell, we didn't have a white Christmas either. In fact, it was in the 60s on Christmas Day here, which is very unusual for us.

  13. I can't get over how big that moose head is! wow! Sorry you didn't get the white christmas - I'll send you over some michigan snow!

  14. I cannot wait to see "Marley and Me". The rest of the animals in your post are simply amazing. What else can I say? That moose is a man's dream come true isn't he?

  15. An African safari ... how romantic! Hope he has lots of excitment and fun!

I dare not even look at my digital scale until all the goodies are gone from the kitchen! LOL I started my food journal yesterday and already blew it today. Oh dear ... not very promising is it?

Wishing you a joyous and happy new year,

  16. My husband would love to have more stuffed friends at our house...we have 2 deer head, pheasant, a couple fish...my husband thinks there is room for more. :)

Glad you had such a nice Christmas.

  17. Hi Rondell,

Well, I went to see Marley & Me tonight and like you said...not a dry eye in the theater and that included me. GREAT MOVIE!!

Neat animals, but I am not sure I could sleep with them around (lol). I would probably have nightmares (hahaha).

  18. I'm so glad you've had a wonderful and busy Christmas holiday, Rondell!

We're still in the thick of it here!

  19. Beautiful pictures!!!!!

Do we have to talk about scales, etc.??????? Horrible thought!!!!!
