~Mom Would Be Proud~

I found this cute idea from Cherry Hill Cottage , you will have to look thur her posts to find it, I tried and couldn't, she had gingham ribbon around it and hung on a door. Mine is tied with homespun and it didn't look to good on my door so I looped the rusty wire over the opposite side of my light post, my hanging basket of pink petunias is on the other side:) Just wrap wire around the mouth of the jar then homespun and you can really hang it anywhere you would like:)
Dark pink impatients hang on a hook and my garden sign I made a few years ago is weathering well!

I've even tried this year to plant flowers in a basket that I found at GW and painted black...so far so good with it. This is from someone that hated to garden...I used to think geraniums were ugly...mom loved them but I remember she always bought the pink ones:)

This is the window box under my keeping room window it's a little longer than the one under the kitchen window. I have a tin herb sign in there but now the flowers are really starting to grow and hide it:)

This one is under my kitchen window, I love looking at it first thing in the morning, I'll have my first cup of coffee standing at the sink just looking at how well they are doing. That is a tin garden rack in there supposed to hang it but I thought it looked cute in there instead.

I wish mom were here to see the flowers that I have planted, both my parents had green thumbs me? nada!!! But at least I try, I know she would be so proud of me, sometimes I feel her right there with me...that's how much she loved to garden. God gives us pleasures here on earth so I know that in heaven she is gardening amongst the most beautiful flowers... ones that we humans can't even imagine and I know she is so very happy!

  1. Oh Rondell!
I love your flowers. Now that little jar with the flowers from Cherry Hill Cottage that you displayed. I'll tell you how to hang that. Have your honey get you some wire, and run it around the top of that jar. Leave a little space to hook onto each side and make you a handle, and it will balance beautifully from your hook. I love that idea. Your flowers in your little basket are so sweet. Everything looks so beautiful. Your Moma would be so proud. Now the bowls, I love them for everything. I put a small bowl on my sink, and keep my scrubber, and rubber stopper in it. I also like to keep a small bowl in my bathroom and keep my washcloths, soaps and accessories in one too. Skies the limit with bowls. I have even been known to plant in them, having my honey drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage. I am so happy that you came back by, and I loved your post today. I will see you soon. Check back often this week, as I am going to be posting lots of projects as the week goes on. I hope you will keep sharing to. I loved my visit today. "Country Hugs", Sherry

  3. Your flowers are beautiful! I was not so much into planting either...I would rather put wooden flowers in my flower boxes before and now I buy 3-4 flats of flowers!

  8. The mason jar of flowers is so cute! I love the simplicity of it! All of your flowers are pretty. I'm wanting Jason to build me some planters for my front windows. I've never had much of a green thumb either, but I know the things I will attempt to grow and I stick to them! :)

I know your Mama would be proud too!

  12. I love geraniums because they are such an old-fashioned flower. Yrs sure are growing! If I recall correctly, my mother would "pinch" them and get them very bushy that way. And she could grow a whole new plant from just a little twig of one. Sounds like yr mom was one of those lucky "green thumbs" too. It skipped a generation in me.

  22. Your mom would be proud. I really love the window boxes. But I know what you mean about the geraniums except my thing is begonias. I've never had them because I just don't think they are all that pretty. But apparently a lot of people like them.....they keep showing up in the garden centers!

  23. Love the jar idea, your flowers are looking good. I don't have a green thumb either. I would rather decorate the inside of my house then do flowers, but I do them anyway.
