~Happy 4th of July and Finds~

I think today I'll post in red after all it's almost the 4th of July! This year I'm appreciating my country more after reading and veiwing "John Adams", I think every highschool senior and every politician should be required to see it also, what they gave up in order to see this land free was amazing to me. I've also known some to say they wished they lived back then.....not me! The scene with the small pox was enough for me, thank God for modern medicine!!! If you get a chance see it, it's out on DVD and I think about $35.00, Chris bought it and lent it to us to see and we really enjoyed it. Anyway I wanted to wish all my friends in blogland and you lurkers too a very safe and happy one.... enjoy your families:)

I went to Goodwill today and looked around for a while, Thursdays must not be a good day because to me there wasn't to much there. I did find this prim stoneware bottle that I have seen at country stores for $15.00 and up, see the wire on top in the shape of a star? Pretty neat huh? I got it for $1.99:)

Yesterday when I went with Chris I made him stop at The Salvation Army store, I'd never been to this one, it's about 25 miles from here. This place was huge and so clean and you know I couldn't find anything! Maybe it's because everything was color coordinated, even the dishes and knicknakes.lol I was sure out of my element, I'm used to scrounging around I guess, I did find this bookholder for .99 and I know you can guess what I'm going to do with it:) I see it black, distressed and stained, holding cookbooks. The two ends fold down and I'm in the process of painting it now, I'll post a pic when I'm finished, we will be down the docks this week-end in this beautiful rain that we are supposed to have all weekend....oh well, when handed lemons make lemonade!!

Have a wonderful time this weekend!

  2. Great finds. I need a cook book holder, they are all over the place, drawers, cabinets, but a holder like that for my favs would be great! That bottle is neat. I hear we are gonna have rain tomorrow too. Oh well, our fireworks are next weekend anyways! Have a great holiday!

  3. I really like your finds, Rondell -- and I can totally imagine that book holder in black! Which reminds me of the "treasures" I brought home from Goodwill last week. Lots of wood in need of a prim touch... It's on my list!

That movie sounds right up my alley, too. We spent lots of time in VA on vacations growing up and I always loved our historic touring days best -- Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Monticello, Montpelier, etc. Fascinating stuff, but thank goodness for modern medicine and such!

Have a wonderful 4th! So glad to see you stopped by again :)

  13. A colour co-ordinated Salvation Army? I like them when they're messy and crammed with stuff. It's more fun to dig around for the real treasures. I used to go to a great one in the city, it had two floors. They moved a few months back and I haven't been to check it out yet.
The book holder is a neat find. I'm not sure I would have known what it is. It'll look great painted. The bottle is cute too.

    Have a wonderful weekend R! :)
